Cheltenham College, Ashmead

A new girls' boarding house for 50 boarders and 25 day students including recreational facilities and staff accommodation. The site is located in the Conservation Area between
two boys' boarding houses both of which are listed. Designed to sit sensitively in its context, the building comprises three wings of differing heights arranged around an internal courtyard. This provides privacy, security and maximises natural light to the interior. Materials are a mixture of traditional and modern, picking up on those of the neighbouring buildings (Regency render and Victorian brick) and using them carefully to reduce the visual impact of the building. Approximate contract value £1.6m.
