Heart of the Forest Community Special Needs School

Integrated Architecture was commissioned as technical architects for the construction of a new mschool for special needs pupils, including 1650 sqm of new build and 370sqm of listed building refurbishment. The facilities include teaching and support for approximately 60 pupils in 11 class bases, including art and food technology. Support facilities include hydrotherapy, soft play areas and full IT installations and teaching aids. Dining and catering is included, as are gym and limited indoor sports facilities. At the centre of the school will be an interactive sensory garden with input from local artists and designers and links to the surrounding forest. Approximate contract value £3.5m.
